SUMMARY:Wellesley Conservation Land Trust's Spring Lecture—"The Role of F
 orests in Decarbonization"
DESCRIPTION:Wellesley Conservation Land Trust's Spring Lecture\nJonathan Th
ompson\, PhD\, Director of the Harvard Forest in Petersham\, MA\n"The Role
of Forests in Decarbonization: Land-Use Tradeoffs for Net Zero”\nThursd
 ay\, May 21\, 2026\, 7:00-8:30pm\nWakelin Room\, Wellesley Free Library\n\
nHow have the forests of New England evolved since the post-colonial perio
d and how might they save us in the future?  These are complex questions
involving the ways biological\, physical\, and human systems interact to s
hape the region\, including all the ways the landscape is changing due to
both global forces such as climate change and local forces like land use.
Central to our future is the role that forests play in decarbonization a
nd the land use tradeoffs that may lead to net zero.
